MOYALE—Unknown gunmen have attacked a passenger bus and two other vehicles—a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Probox—between Bori Junction and Dadach Lakole in Moyale Sub County, Marsabit County . The attack happened between 8pm and 10pm Monday night.

According to witnesses aboard the ill-fated Salama Bus at the time of the incident, gunmen sprayed bullets on the vehicles, killing one person.

“We lost a fellow passenger. He succumbed to the gunshot wounds to the upper part of the body,” Abdi Guyo, a horrified passenger, recounted.

The surprise attack also left four others injured. Although it is not yet clear, medics at the nearby Sololo Mission Hospital told Kulan Post that the” majority most of the victims were nursing gunshot wounds.”

The survivors said the gang had first targeted the driver of the bus as he raced at a stretch to force him to stop.

Eastern police boss Charles Naibei said multi-agency teams are on the ground pursuing the matter.

“The bullets damaged the windshield while its front tyre was deflated but he managed to drive off from a danger zone up to where he stopped and sought help for the injured,” the regional police boss said.
